MONMade “Keeps it Local” with New Artisan Business Site
The website, which acts as one-stop shop where visitors can find locally made, handcrafted goods, will host an upcoming showcase at the Ace Hotel.
Move over, Etsy. There’s a new place to find one-of-a-kind, handcrafted goods — and they’re all made right here in Pittsburgh.
Developed by Craft Business Accelerator at Bridgeway Capital, MONMade is set to launch May 19.
The website acts as a catalog or look book of local craft business owners and their products.
“We help you discover and collaborate with the creative people making specialty goods in Pittsburgh,” a statement on the project’s site says. “Whether it’s glass pendant lights for a major development or a ceramic cup for a good friend, MONMade lets you keep it local.”
Among the 55 small businesses that visitors will be able to browse online are Knotzland, an artisan bowtie company, Bones and All, which makes custom furniture, and STAK Ceramics.
There’s also an opportunity for you to check out the goods in person.
MONMade is hosting a summer showcase from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 19 at Ace Hotel in East Liberty.
The event will feature more than 50 local crafters and their products, which include textiles, wall coverings, lighting, furniture, tableware and other home goods.
Reservations are being accepted now for the event, which is sponsored by the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh. Interested in attending? Make your RSVP here.
